Helping those in debt...
Following the advice of her Community Psychiatric Nurse, Miss C came to St Vincent Support Centre seeking debt advice. At the time she had three priority debts and four non-priority debts the total of which was just over £2000. Her debts had accrued when the death of her mother and the worsening effect of this on her already depressed state had pushed money management down her list of priorities. Shortly after she was also diagnosed with several health problems, including a chronic illness and was eventually classed as a vulnerable person.
Unable to cope with her debt problems Miss C sought debt advice and a plan was put in place to help her become debt free. A successful application to the Yorkshire Water Community Trust resulted in a grant of £261 being awarded which had the effect of writing off her debt with them.
Since she already had a County Court Judgement and her debts were less than £5000 an application for an Administration Order was made. This was granted and included a composition order of £2.90/week. As her result she will pay £452.40 towards her debts over a three year period and then she will be debt free.
Miss C has been delighted with the outcomes achieved as a result of the advice received and is now back in control of her life.
